Join Collins Aerospace as an Electrical Design Engineer and assume a key role within the Communication Products Engineering department in Mission Systems . We’re looking to create a pipeline of passionate professionals who will lead the design and development of digital and analog hardware used in high-performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation. These include sophisticated software-defined radios and data links intended for use in ground, airborne, and space applications.
As part of a dynamic and collaborative engineering team, you will contribute across the full product development lifecycle—from concept and architecture through design, integration, and qualification. Whether you’re just starting your career or bringing deep technical expertise, you will have the opportunity to shape and support some of the most advanced communication technologies in the aerospace and defense industry.
This position will be at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid , with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do :
Depending on experience level and skillset, responsibilities may include :
- Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, and Software Engineers to ensure successful integration and verification.
- Interpret and decompose high-level system requirements into actionable electrical design tasks.
- Support technical documentation, including requirements traceability, analysis reports, and test procedures.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace design and test standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-461, DO-254).
- Present technical work to internal stakeholders, customers, and certification authorities.
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design :
Design, analyze, and validate complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), including high-speed digital, analog, radio frequency (RF) and power supplies.Perform circuit simulations and analysis (timing, signal integrity, power, thermal) using tools like PSpice, or equivalent.Create and manage schematics, schematic constraints, layout guidelines, stack-up definitions, and BOMs while collaborating with PCB drafting engineers and manufacturing.Control System Design :
Apply control theory and system modeling to develop hardware solutions for closed-loop control systems.Conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulations for real-time control validation.Special Test Equipment (STE) Design :
Design and develop test equipment, including test racks, custom harnesses, and cabling to support functional, environmental, and qualification testing.What YOU will learn :

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Electronics or Controls Engineering focus, or related fieldProven knowledge and experience in circuit design, analysis and results understanding and presentation.Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract.Entry Level Engineers
