Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Sr. Associate Buyer to support procurement operations within a regulated biotechnology manufacturing environment. Under limited supervision, this professional will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating pricing and terms, and managing purchase orders, contracts, and blanket agreements for commodities, supplies, and services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in requisition-to-purchase order (PO) conversion using SAP and raw materials planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers and contractors for goods and services.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and conditions.
- Place and expedite maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) orders with suppliers.
- Process purchase requisitions for contract services, capital equipment, routine orders (ROs), and inventory materials, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Generate purchase contracts and blanket orders.
- Maintain integrity of the purchasing database (JDE system).
- Assist in the design and implementation of new systems such as :
- New JDE release
- Corporate purchasing card program
- Minority supplier program
- EDI and electronic requisitioning
- Perform special projects to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of supplier partnership programs.
- Create and implement new practices and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with departments including Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to develop specifications for equipment and materials.
- Resolve issues creatively using established business and manufacturing practices.
- Ensure all purchasing documentation is maintained in compliance with cGMP standards.
- Serve as backup for the MRO Category Manager when necessary.
- Assist in conducting supplier audits and visits; provide input to audit teams.
- Perform periodic audits of purchasing contracts and records.
- Resolve PO-related discrepancies impacting Receiving and Finance.
- Monitor and coordinate the return of goods and manage PO expediting.
- Participate in meetings such as Operations / Production, Procurement, and Logistics, as required.
