Construction Manager (s) for multiple Capital Projects (South PR region)
- Technical Qualification / role description (general)
- Comprehensive knowledge of cGMP, FDA & EHSS regulations
- Strong OSHA knowledge
- Knowledge of chemical processes and equipment (Chemical Plants preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven knowledgeable Project Management skills (experience required)
- Strong Technical writing & reporting skills (experience required)
- Proven MS Project knowledge and project scheduling readiness and tracking (all CAPEX projects are required to provide timeline schedule prior to execution)
- Proven knowledge of P&Id’s, technical drawings
- Five (5) to Eight (8) years’ experience in similar environment
- Role will require occasional lifting, carrying, push / pull physical demand of 25lb
- Role will require continuous (daily) outside tasks in Guayama’s temp / humidity environment
- Role requires continuous PPE protection (safety glasses, hard hats, safety shoes, amongst others).
Technical Responsibilities
Supervision of construction management personnel assigned to the field.Perform daily field coordination with contractors under the supervision.This requires (not limited to) any / all required Project permits for daily tasks (Hot / Cold permits as per client SOP, amongst others required for project activities execution).Provide technical support to the team in matters related to Contract Management, Quality Assurance, Claim Prevention and Resolution, and other services provided by the field personnel.Lead Pre-Bid Meetings with potential bidders.Participate in a Pre-Construction Meeting before work commences.Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items.Oversee and sign contractor’s change orders and certifications for payment and forward them for the owner’s final approval.Perform bid evaluations and recommend the most favorable bidder to the owner.Lead Pre-Construction Meetings with the selected contractor(s).Construction Contract Administration
Conduct weekly construction coordination meetings.Serve as liaison between the CLIENT, Design Team, and Contractor.Evaluate Change Order Proposals. If the proposed change order is valid, negotiate the terms of the change order and prepare documentation for the CLIENT’s approval.All Change orders must be approved in writing by the CLIENT.Review and recommendation of Progress Payments.Monitor payments and change orders and their relationship with the project’s budget.Weekly and monthly project status reports including construction cost, project progress vs. schedule, photos, change orders summary, and outstanding issues requiring attention or resolution.Serve as liaison with the design team to coordinate and expedite issues requiring the intervention of the design group.Resource will ensure Scope of Work for any / all projects assigned are properly documented that instructions are clear between Baxter and potential Project Contractor.All project documentation will be well stored according to CAPEX Engineering Team (training to be provided to selected resource).Resource selected will ensure record copies of contracts, drawings, specifications, change orders, submittals, and other project-related documentation so they are readily available for the client operations.Resource(s) selected are required to be on project assigned to provide work permits (as required by client procedures) by no later than 7 : 30am daily.Contractor’s schedule starts at 7 : 00am and permits are required to be signed prior to tasks commencement.Safety officers are provided by Guayama client and are required to authorize / sign daily work permits.Additional responsibilities may be required – per each project’s requirement – and these might include (not limited to) conduct Punch List inspections per project, coordination for the performance of necessary field and laboratory testing, evaluation of field observations and submit recommendations, ensure any required RED Lines to drawings are completed according to client Quality Program, and assist the safety officer and / or inspector in enforcing the client safety program.
