A Brief Overview
The Compliance Officer supports the effective implementation of the Compliance Management System (CMS), focusing on compliance with consumer financial protection laws, regulations, and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing, and other illicit activities. This role involves assisting in corporate compliance reporting, preparing reports and presentations for the Board of Directors (BOD), Senior Management, and Committees, and addressing emerging compliance risks. Additionally, the Compliance Officer will work closely with the Privacy Officer to manage potential privacy incidents, including incident review, analysis, and training as required. The position also supports vendor management oversight from a consumer protection perspective, coordinating ongoing monitoring, reviewing documentation and training with vendors. Further responsibilities include supporting the Compliance Manager with compliance issue follow-ups, reviewing information and action plans, and participating in the execution of the Compliance Training Program.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Corporate Compliance Reporting : Assist in developing compliance reports, statistics, and presentations for the BOD, Senior Management, and relevant Compliance Committees.
- Privacy Incidents : Support the Privacy Officer in managing matters related to incidents of unauthorized access to customer information.
- Service Provider Oversight : Work closely with Vendor Management Area and business units to support efforts in mitigating consumer protection risk.
- Compliance Issue Follow-Up : Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to review and analyze information, action plans, and follow-up on identified compliance issues.
- Regulatory Compliance Risk Assessments & BSA Risk Assessment : Support the assessment process to identify trends, risk exposure, control effectiveness, and residual risks.
- Compliance Testing and Reporting Plan : Keep Management up to date regarding the status and any challenges presented.
- Federal Regulators Examinations and / or Internal Audits : Assist compliance managers during examinations of FirstBank’s Compliance Management Systems / Program.
- Training and Compliance Updates : Ensure compliance training plans are up to date for all areas. Main liaison with Human Resources for tracking and reporting.
- Special Projects : Support on assigned projects by the compliance managers.

Regulatory Knowledge : Strong understanding of consumer financial laws, BSA / AML regulations, privacy, and vendor management.Analytical Skills : Ability to assess complex compliance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and develop actionable insights.Microsoft Tools Proficiency : Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Excel.Communication Skills : Effective verbal and written communication skills.Attention to Detail : Thorough approach to reviewing information, preparing reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance.Collaboration : Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.Adaptability : Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects.Bilingual Proficiency : Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.Minimum Requirements You’ll Need :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent.Experience : One to three years’ experience in consumer protection and / or BSA / AML / OFAC Compliance.Skills : Good knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, and internal controls.
