Overview

We are searching for the first President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Charlotte Region (BGCCR), a trailblazing leader ready to start-up a new Boys & Girls Club organization in one of America’s fastest-growing, most vibrant cities and the largest community in the US without a Boys & Girls Club presence. The successful candidate will lead the execution of the initial business plan, creating and implementing the overall operating systems for the corporation and elevating the brand to youth, families, investors, and the broader community.

Imagine the opportunity to lead a community-wide transformation that will positively impact the trajectory of thousands of young people, their families, and the greater Charlotte region. The selected leader will be charged with driving bold innovative solutions to address critical challenges, such as :

  • 1 in 7 children in Charlotte live in poverty, compared to the national average of 1 in 10 children (U.S. Census Bureau, 2023).
  • 1 in 6 teens in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District (CMSD) drop out of high school, higher than the national dropout rate of 1 in 9 teens (NCES, 2023).
  • 19% of teens report suicidal thoughts (2021 High School Youth Risk Behavior Survey), compared to the national rate of 14% (CDC, 2021).
  • As of June 30, 2024, nearly 1,700 juvenile arrests were reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, reflecting a 12% year-over-year increase, with 61% being repeat offenders.

We know the impact Boys & Girls Clubs can have—54% of alumni say the Club saved their life or put them on a better path. Now, imagine bringing that level of impact to Charlotte’s youth. You’ll help reverse these trends by leading a movement rooted in access and opportunity.

The Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. You will be responsible for bringing this mission to life in the Charlotte region, ensuring that the youth in your care achieve great futures by providing a safe and fun space, engaging club experiences, and managing caring professionals to guide them along the way. As President & CEO, you’ll be the driving force behind the organization’s success!
