A Brief Overview

The Business Relationship Officer analyzes clients’ and prospects’ banking needs, including financing, cash management, treasury, insurance, etc. They coordinate efforts to generate new business with assigned clients and prospects. Responsibilities include asset generation, deposit growth, fee income targets through cross-selling bank products, and implementing marketing strategies. The officer is also responsible for maintaining the asset quality of accounts, structuring credit facilities, conducting reviews, monitoring compliance, and managing accounts to minimize delinquencies. They ensure adherence to regulations, bank policies, and proper documentation, and prepare necessary reports and credit memos. The officer may assist in preparing presentations and other related tasks.

What you’ll do

  • Develop relationship marketing plans with supervision and promote bank products and services to clients and prospects.
  • Present bank products and analyze credit requests within established standards.
  • Prepare credit memoranda with support from credit analysts, including risk assessment and recommendations.
  • Monitor collateral and borrowing base formulas to detect value loss and follow up on exceptions.
  • Manage assigned accounts to stay within risk parameters.
  • Implement credit strategies to manage risks associated with existing relationships.
  • Monitor overdraft balances and delinquency reports, and follow up as needed.
  • Early identification of problematic loans and collaboration on remedial actions.
  • Handle client closing processes with support from closing officers.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations to maintain satisfactory audit ratings.
  • Perform credit administration tasks like customer visits, covenant compliance, financial review, and collateral review.
  • Provide high-level customer service to reduce attrition, demonstrating responsiveness, professionalism, and product knowledge.
  • Maintain updated portfolio data and assist in reports, presentations, and projects.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role, including client management, financial analysis, and modeling, is necessary.
