Electrician / Electrical Mechanic General Description Provide electrical support for the site electrical system. This role has wide ranging responsibilities from Medium voltage power to HVAC controls. Primary responsibilities will include Central Utility Plant electrical support (power, boilers. Chillers, and controls, UPS systems), Lighting system controls, and electrical power owner for the laboratory buildings. This will also be the back-up role for site electric and provide controls support for VFD’s and other instrumentation. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Task will include but not be limited to :
- Participate in the efficient operations and maintenance of all building systems
- Maintain operation of electrical and mechanical equipment supporting the facility and facility’s critical operations
- Demonstrated expertise low, medium and high voltage systems operation.
- Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective action required
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as required
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to perform work and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems / malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
- Assist with the installation and repair plumbing / piping / tubing; wire single and three phase motors (single & two speed); run conduit; pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.
- Install and rebuild pumps and motors; install and rebuild air compressors; heat exchangers; replace bearings in all types of motors; replace seals on pumps; install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls; assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
- Fully implement all standard operating systems and practices
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe workplace. Skills & Qualifications
- Five years’ experience working with low, medium and high voltage electricity
- Ability to read HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and architectural blueprints
- Ability to use Windows based computers
- Journeyman Electrician preferable
- High school diploma. Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, preferred
- Experience with uninterruptible power systems, emergency power systems, energy management systems, HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, and electrical systems engineering and operation Certifications / licenses
- Electrical License is required
