Under limited supervision, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, and managing the procurement of commodities, supplies, and services. This includes processing purchase orders, contracts, and blanket orders in accordance with company policies and cGMP standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Source potential suppliers and contractors for goods and services; negotiate and expedite MRO orders.
- Evaluate and process purchase requisitions for contract services, capital equipment, and inventory materials.
- Generate and manage purchase contracts and blanket orders.
- Maintain procurement records and ensure data accuracy within enterprise systems (e.g., JDE).
- Support implementation of procurement systems and programs such as electronic requisitioning, P-Cards, and supplier diversity initiatives.
- Lead or participate in cost-saving projects and procurement optimization efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to define technical specifications.
- Resolve issues related to purchase order discrepancies, delivery delays, and invoicing with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Conduct and support supplier audits and maintain documentation in compliance with cGMP standards.
- Manage product returns and expedite outstanding orders.
- Participate in internal meetings including operations, logistics, and procurement staff reviews.
- Provide backup support for the MRO Category Manager as needed.

Qualifications
High school diploma / GED and 4+ years of directly related work experienceAssociate’s degree and 2+ years of directly related work experienceBachelor’s degree and 6+ months of directly related work experienceMaster’s degreePreferred Qualifications
Experience with SAP and requisition-to-PO conversionBackground in raw materials planningFamiliarity with Rapid Response (a plus)Experience in supplier communication and escalation handlingStrong negotiation and interpersonal communication skillsProficiency in project participation and cross-functional collaborationKnowledge of Smartsheet or other reporting / metrics tools (a plus)Benefits
