Description

The candidate will provide technical design support for Vision and Automation Systems for our clients and will be responsible for various interactions with control systems. They will assist in different aspects of automation projects, such as design, documentation, implementation, training, validation, and more. Additionally, this position supports packaging project field executions for the Life Science Industries (Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology / Medical Devices) in accordance with ISO-9001 / UL508A standards.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial automation or related role .

Responsibilities

  • Assembly Mechanical / Electrical Parts as per UL508A / ISO Standards.
  • Interpret Mechanical and Electrical Schematics.
  • Design and development of automated systems for packaging processes.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, technical discussions, and design reviews to contribute to the development of automation solutions.
  • Support in the configuration tasks for automation equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, robotic systems, and SCADA systems.
  • Participate in validation testing activities to verify the performance and compliance of automation systems.
  • Developing test protocols, executing test procedures, and documenting results to support regulatory submissions and audits under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of automation system configurations, software programs, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in training sessions for operations and maintenance personnel on the use and operation of automation systems.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer activities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Configure and validate product functionality and performance against project deliverables.
  • Assist in implementing continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing automation capabilities and driving operational excellence.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols and procedures while working with automation equipment, ensuring personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Design / Modify / Review Electrical Schematics.
  • Troubleshooting and modifying Control panels, Vision Systems (Systech / Cognex) and PLCs.
  • Troubleshooting and modifying HMIs.
  • Installing software on designated computers.
  • Maintain computers with required software licenses.
  • Support FAT / SAT / IQ / OQ / PQ as an Automation perspective.
  • Set-up and fine-tune equipment for optimal performance.
  • Actively participates in meetings with clients to maintain on schedule their responsibilities and team members.
  • Design / Modify / Review Bill of materials for control panels as per project budget.
  • Follow ISO9001 and UL508A Standards.
  • Supports packaging project field executions.
  • Perform Automation evaluation test to provide a solution.
  • Communicate with the team lead any observation.
  • Provide troubleshooting and guidance support to manufacturing automation systems.
  • Installs / Design new or modified equipment at customer’s facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications, including electrical testing and vision system set up.
  • Provides on-site start-up support for the client’s software and equipment, in addition to technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Communicates and alerts the team of all exceptions and / or events that might affect project deliverables.
  • Travel to company / customer sites as needed.
  • Be able to support accomplishing goals and objectives by Automation Department.
  • Write a detailed daily report for job continuity.
  • Complete weekly report / documentation summarizing weekly activities.
  • Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience in automation and projects implementation.
  • Travel Requirement for this position involves approximately 40% of travel (it could be more or less), on average, and includes domestic and international travel.
  • Background in Electronic Engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to understand P&ID drawings, network diagrams, panel layout drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO / OSHA / cGMP requirements and current industry practices is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics solutions is preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with Rockwell PLC and HMI software and hardware.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with Cognex, and Keyence vision inspection systems.
  • Experience with Systech serialization Systems is preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages (C#, Visual Basic, Python, Java,) is preferred.
  • Experience with IQ, OQ, PQ process validation.
  • Automation standards experience (i.e. ISA, UL508A, ISO).
  • Must have the physical requirements necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Able to work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, climb steps and ladders, and stand or walk for 2—3 hours.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.

  • Work in different shifts, extra time, including weekend depending on the nature of the work and / or business / client needs.
  • Required Skills

  • Knowledge of control circuits, hardware, software, and system integration .
  • Understanding of automation technologies and principles, including PLC programming, HMI development, and robotics.

  • Knowledge of basic handwork tools.

  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Communication Protocols (Serial / Data Highway Plus / Device Net / Ethernet IP / CIP).
  • Knowledge of Motion Programming.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, GAMP, UL508A.
