Job Title : Junior Project Controls Engineer

Reports to : Senior Financial Analyst / Office of the CFO

Location : San Juan, PR (On-Site)

About the Role :

DCMC, LLC is seeking a bilingual and analytically driven Junior Project Controls Engineer to support the Office of the CFO in improving project visibility, tracking, and financial reporting across key energy infrastructure initiatives. This role is ideal for a motivated early-career engineer with experience in cost tracking, scheduling, and cross-functional coordination, who is looking to expand into broader project controls and financial analysis responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Support oversight of budgets and schedules for infrastructure and power generation projects in Puerto Rico.
  • Collaborate with legal, procurement, and operational teams to ensure integrated financial and project execution planning.
  • Track project estimates, actuals, and forecasts; perform variance and earned value analyses.
  • Assist in calculating and updating Estimate at Completion (EAC) to enhance cost accuracy and financial projections.
  • Help create and maintain dashboards for internal reporting to the CFO, including project performance metrics and risks.
  • Coordinate with engineering and site teams to align progress reporting with financial controls.
  • Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with internal financial protocols and project documentation standards.
  • Support invoice reviews and cost verifications to ensure accurate billing and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and training materials for project controls tools and reporting procedures.
  • Attend project meetings, document discussions, and ensure follow-up on action items related to scheduling and finance.

Required Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance or Accounting
  • Experience : Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in engineering, project controls, cost tracking, or scheduling - preferably in infrastructure, construction, or energy-related projects.
  • Skills :
  • Working knowledge of cost control and EAC forecasting principles.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative in academic, professional, or volunteer settings.
  • Microsoft Excel (Advanced) - Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas
  • Dashboard creation : Preferably Power BI
  • Preferred Certifications : Primavera P6 - Project scheduling, ERP systems - SAP, is a plus, Project Management certification - PMP, EIT certification - For engineering grads.
  • Language : Proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Full-time, on-site role based in San Juan, PR, with occasional travel to project sites across Puerto Rico.
  • Work may include both office-based tasks and field visits to construction or project locations.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during critical project phases may be required.
