ROLE We are seeking a Technical Writer to support the U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In this role, you will provide scientific writing, communications, and outreach support to translate complex research into reports, briefings, and public-facing materials that advance the Institute’s hurricane recovery and forestry initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES Develop monthly briefings on relevant scientific technical findings for the research work unit Provide text for an accomplishment report highlighting scientific findings and capacity of IITF Develop science translation blogs, articles, research highlights, and communications related to hurricane recovery projects for USDA and Forest Service outlets Meet regularly to discuss progress and editions of the tasks Consolidate evidence, photos, materials of hurricane recovery projects with communications staff Develop bimonthly reports for the Forest Service American Relief Act 60-day Congressional Report REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Writing and speaking fluency in both English & Spanish Excellent writing skills Strong collaboration skills REQUIRED EXPERIENCE At least 5 years of experience working with public affairs knowledge At least 5 years of experience in science writing At least 5 years of experience in advertising At least 2 years of experience with public relations At least 2 years of experience with outreach campaigns Experience working successfully in a team environment REQUIRED EDUCATION Master’s degree LOCATION San Juan, PR 00926 TELEWORK Not eligible for telework CLEARANCE U.S.
