Instrument Technician

With offices in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and Boston, United States, we serve life sciences clients in six global markets : United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Germany, Canada, and South America.  Responsibilities :   Perform basic calibrations of instruments on process and utility equipment.

Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment / systems the team is responsible for.

Ensure that calibration paperwork, instrument files and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.

Participate in a detailed training program in order to develop ones knowledge in the instrumentation field and other areas of the plant.

Assist in the development, revision, and updating of related SOPs for work related areas.

Configure and repair microprocessor-based instruments and controllers.

Basic troubleshooting and repair of process control and laboratory instruments.

All work must be completed in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and Amgen policies.

Perform regular certification of equipment to verify conformance to industry standards and Amgen procedures.

Maintain an up to date cGMP training book.

Plan and schedule own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities.

Other functions that may be assigned.

Education  Associates + 2 years of Maintenance experience OR 2 years in a technical school setting with hands-on experience OR High school / GED + 4 years of Maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications : Experience in Calibration of sensors of temperature, pressure, level, and management of standards.  Experience in documentation of Work Orders in Maximo.

A craftsperson knowledgeable of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic instrumentation.

Has received training or hands on experience in such specialized subjects as analog and / or digital electronics, microprocessors and / or computers, and the operation and maintenance of particular lines of field instrumentation.

Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form Intermediate computer skills Ability to interact constructively with peers / teams Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
