Backend Engineer

Supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project, the full-time Backend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services and RESTful APIs in a 100% remote environment. Key responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services, RESTful APIs, and enterprise integration components for mission-critical healthcare applications Implement business logic, service orchestration, and secure service-to-service communication to meet application functionality and data exchange needs Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support end-to-end solution delivery, including technical design, code reviews, and production support Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in backend software engineering Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and API development Experience with SQL, relational databases, and backend data processing patterns Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, secure service communication, and CI/CD workflows Proven ability to collaborate effectively within Agile delivery environments across engineering, QA, and product teams
