Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects within the organization. Their main task is to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope and objectives.

Duties of the Position:

  • Develops and implements project plans, including defining project goals, objectives, and deliverables. Creates a detailed project schedule, identifying tasks, dependencies, and project critical path.
  • Assigns resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to ensure project success.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior management.
  • Monitors project progress, identifies risks and issues, and implements mitigation strategies.
  • Holds regular project stage meetings and provides progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Manages project scope, ensuring that any changes are evaluated, documented, and approved appropriately.
  • Ensures compliance with project methodologies and best practices.
  • Fosters a collaborative and positive work environment to enhance project performance.
  • Conducts project evaluations and post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Defines project goals, objectives, and deliverables. Develops a comprehensive project plan, including scope, schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Builds and leads a project team, assigns tasks, and provides guidance and support. Encourages effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Identifies and engages project stakeholders, including clients, sponsors, and other relevant parties. Manages stakeholder expectations and maintains regular communication.
  • Identifies potential risks and issues that may impact the project.
  • Develops risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Monitors and manages risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Creates and manages the project budget, ensuring effective resource utilization. Monitors expenses and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Establishes clear communication channels within the project team and with stakeholders. Provides regular project updates, including progress, milestones, and any changes in scope or schedule.
  • Ensures that project deliverables meet quality standards. Implements quality control measures and conducts periodic reviews and audits.
  • Evaluates and manages project changes, including scope changes, schedule adjustments, and resource reallocations.
  • Documents and communicates changes to stakeholders.
  • Conducts a thorough project evaluation and facilitates post-project reviews.
  • Documents lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
  • Stays updated with project management methodologies, tools, and industry trends.
  • Works in conjunction with and supervises project inspectors, coordinators, and document controllers who are responsible for the daily execution of individual programs or projects.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production.
  • Fosters a positive work environment that motivates individuals and groups to achieve their goals in the organization.
  • Other duties as required by operational necessity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field from a duly accredited university in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  • Three (3) years of project management experience in the power generation industry or a similar industry.
  • Preferably certifications in project management such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or other recognized certifications.
  • Valid drivers license in Puerto Rico.
  • Able and available to obtain transportation credentialing (TWIC).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation.
  • Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Team collaboration and interpersonal skills to ensure efficient task and project completion.
  • Critical thinking to analyze work processes and implement improvements on a daily basis.
  • Time optimization to ensure planning and prioritization of tasks and projects.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changes in operational necessity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents, work under pressure, meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skills, leadership, supervision, and oriented to offer exceptional customer service.
