Job Summary

The Financial Controller will lead the organization's financial control, accounting, reporting, governance, and regulatory finance functions across insurance and investment activities. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise combined with experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, capital management, insurance operations, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Lead financial accounting, control, and reporting activities.

Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting process.

Prepare accurate management accounts and statutory financial statements.

Oversee investment accounting, portfolio valuation, investment income, and reconciliations.

Monitor insurance accounting, including premiums, claims, reserves, commissions, and reinsurance.

Manage budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial performance reporting.

Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial governance frameworks.

Ensure compliance with IFRS, accounting standards, tax requirements, and applicable insurance/investment regulations.

Coordinate external and internal audits.

Monitor liquidity, capital requirements, solvency, and balance-sheet performance.

Work closely with Investment, Actuarial, Risk, Treasury, Compliance, and Operations teams.

Provide financial insights to the CFO and senior leadership.

Identify control weaknesses, financial risks, and opportunities for process improvement.

Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.

Ideal Candidate

10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience.

Strong experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Accounting, Audit, and Governance.

Background in insurance, banking, asset management, investment management, or financial services.

Exposure to investment accounting and portfolio reporting.

Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP and regulatory reporting.

Experience with financial controls, audit management, and statutory reporting.

Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.

Strong Excel, financial modeling, ERP, and reporting capabilities.

Proven experience managing finance teams and senior stakeholders.
