Electrical Drafter

JOB SCOPE The Electrical Drafter is an energetic, self-motivated individual with experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and low voltage electrical systems in the biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical / specialty chemical, and / or food & nutrition industries.

Possess the ability to work with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and have experience with creation / modification of plan drawings, detail sheets, and schedules to existing stringent CAD standards throughout all phases of design from schematic through construction documentation.

These plan drawings include power, lighting, and special systems plans and related schedules, including all branch circuiting and equipment layouts with proper space requirements.

Have strong communication and advanced Revit / AutoCAD skills, as well as experience coordinating with other disciplines, including the use of Revit, AutoCAD, and / or other programs to resolve design conflicts.

Expectations to work closely with Architects, Engineers, and Designers as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design and will be expected to complete drawing responsibility tasks within a specified scope, budget, and schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  Visiting project sites to analyze existing conditions, and / or oversee construction.

•  Understanding the NEC, IEEE, and other related standards.
•  Sizing and routing conduit, cable, cable trays, circuit breakers, and low and medium voltage systems (e.g., power distribution, heat tracing, lighting, fire alarm, and phone / data / other special systems).
•  Specifying and selecting electrical equipment.
•  Ensuring that all documents and designs meet Quality Program criteria.
•  Work with electrical engineers to ensure all applicable codes, specifications and standards are met and reflected in designs.
•  Performing lighting design tasks, including calculations, fixture layouts, specification, and scheduling of light fixtures.
•  Designing lighting systems to comply with required local, state, and nationally adopted energy codes.
•  Draws structural and architectural building features for a certain construction project.
•  Use computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting station to produce detailed drawings that include building dimensions, required materials and construction procedures.
•  Coordinate with the supervisor to establish requirements and understand design concepts.
•  Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
•  Compile data and specifications sheets.
•  Collaborate with designers, constructors and engineers on projects.
•  Revise drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements.
•  Interpret plans and study the structural and constructive solutions of certain projects.
•  Markets services to client and maintaining client relationships and contributing to discipline related content for proposals.

 Collaborate to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the company.

SKILLS, SPECIFICAITONS & KNOWLEDGE  Work under time sensitive deadlines and must be able to work independently or within a group setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :  Associate Degree in Architectural and Engineering Drawing or a related field and 2 years of experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   Excellent drawing and organization skills and must have the ability to communicate complex ideas visually.
